For students in 2026, mobile internet for students is not a luxury; it is a necessity. It is a part of how you study and how you manage part-time work, as well as how you stay in touch with folks and friends back home. Student mobile internet helps you from getting lecture slides on the tram to getting into last-minute calls from your friend group. The phone internet is for student matters, as much as the campus Wi-Fi. While data is incredibly useful, there are some trade-offs you should know and understand before you choose plans for your new Lyca Mobile eSIM..

Summer in Poland is the time when the country’s heartbeat accelerates to the rhythm of the hottest hits. Music festivals are more than just concerts—they are entire "cities within cities," where thousands of people meet to celebrate culture, fashion, and freedom. If you are planning your holiday calendar, you need to know that preparation for such trips begins long before the first guitar chord strikes.

eSIMs are taking the travel world by storm! In fact, most major telecom operators in Poland now offer eSIM as a standard option alongside physical SIM cards. The digital transition is accelerating, and the day when eSIMs become the universal norm is just around the corner.

Imagine heading from Poland to London for a semester or traveling for work to Manchester. You need a travel companion that gives you peace of mind, not "bill shock."

Since Brexit, roaming in the United Kingdom has become complicated. While "Roam Like at Home" used to be the standard, the UK is now in a "gray area"—it’s no longer part of the EU zone for many operators, but not quite "the rest of the world" either. To ensure your Instagram reels from the Edinburgh Fringe or late-night chats don't become your biggest travel expense, you need a smart data strategy.

eSIMs are all the rage!

In fact, most major telecom operators in Poland are now offering eSIM as an option along with physical SIM cards. The transition is picking up pace, and the day when eSIMs are the norm isn’t too far away!

But why are eSIMs suddenly becoming popular?

The fact is that eSIMs were already pretty popular among travelers. The convenience of eSIMs when travelling abroad is second to none.

And then Apple came along and decided to launch eSIM-only versions of iPhones for select regions. This boosted the already rising popularity of eSIMs.

4G was introduced in Poland in 2011 and rapidly spread to other parts of the country.

By 2013–2014, a majority of people in Poland had 4G coverage, approximately 35%. But this was limited to urban centers; rural areas still had to make do with 3G or 2G.

Thanks to the expansion efforts of Poland’s telecom operators, the country achieved 100% 4G coverage in 2023.

But many countries in Europe were on their way to 100% 5G coverage during this time. Switzerland and Finland had already launched commercial 5G networks by 2018-2019.Â
